Community Connections to Prosperity is a local coalition working to help individuals, organizations and agencies understand and help alleviate the challenges of poverty.
Turner, Lammers and Jorgenson will talk about the coalition’s groundbreaking 90-day projects, where neighbors roll up their sleeves and make real, tangible changes in their communities. The coalition focuses on innovative solutions to housing challenges; creative approaches to clothing those in need; revolutionary ideas to combat food insecurity; and streamlined resource coordination that changes lives.
Turner is a public health specialist with the Barron County Department of Health & Human Services; Lammers is the caregiver specialist and health promotions coordinator for the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Barron and Rusk Counties; and Jorgenson is an engagement specialist with the community engagement team at Mayo Clinic Health System in Northwest Wisconsin.
The Thursdays at the U weekly series is free and open to the public thanks to support from the UW-Eau Claire – Barron County Foundation. Neither seating reservations nor parking permits are needed for in-person attendees.
Although in-person attendance is encouraged, most talks in the series are livestreamed. They also are archived and can be watched later on the Thursdays at the U webpage.
The next lecture in the series will be March 27, with Gina Rivard presenting “Fraud Protection.”
