Richard Mills and Dayn Leonardson of Sentinel Studios, an independent audio production company, are the featured speakers for the April 30 Thursdays at the U program at UW-Eau Claire – Barron County.
Their presentation, “Making Modern Audio Drama,” will run from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall in Ritzinger Hall and also will be livestreamed at ricelaketv.com.
Mills and Leonardson will lead a crash course on how they create audio drama. They will touch on each phase of the process, from writing and directing to sound design, scoring and release.

Mills is the writer, director and producer of the award-winning audio drama “Homicide at Heavensgate” and its upcoming sequel, “Suicide in Santa Fe.”
Leonardson is an award-winning sound designer and composer who has worked on a host of audio dramas, including “The White Vault,” “Dark Dice,” “Vast Horizons,” as well as the aforementioned “Homicide” and “Suicide” productions.
Sentinel Studios is dedicated to crafting meaningful and thought-provoking stories brought to life through the medium of sound.
The Thursdays at the U weekly series is free and open to the public thanks to support from the UW-Eau Claire – Barron County Foundation. Neither seating reservations nor parking permits are needed for in-person attendees.
While in-person attendance is encouraged, most presentations in the series are livestreamed and archived on the Thursdays at the U webpage.
The final program in the spring series will be May 7, with Joshua Morey presenting “Poverty and Mental Health in Barron County.”
