On Halloween, our thoughts turn to things that go bump in the night — ghosts, monsters and ghouls. “Ghosts, Monsters and Ghouls” also is the topic of the Oct. 31 session of the Thursdays at the U lecture series at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire – Barron County.
Jonathan Fritz
Jonathan Fritz, a student at UW-Eau Claire – Barron County, will discuss the origins of Halloween, monsters of Wisconsin and monsters around the world. His presentation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall in Ritzinger Hall and will be livestreamed at ricelaketv.com.
Fritz, who currently is pursuing a bachelor of professional studies and American Indian studies, has been fascinated by scary beings for many years. His interest was piqued when he worked at haunted houses while living in California.
The Thursdays at the U weekly series is free and open to the public thanks to support from the UW-Eau Claire – Barron County Foundation. Neither seating reservations nor parking permits are needed for in-person attendees.
Although in-person attendance is encouraged, most talks in the series are livestreamed. They also are archived and can be watched later on the Thursdays at the U webpage.
The next lecture in the series will be Nov. 7, with Chef Christopher Ray presenting “Balancing the Plate: A Chef’s Life.”
