Joe Thrasher, senior counsel with the Rice Lake law firm Thrasher, Pelish, Heaney and Tomesh Ltd., is the featured speaker for the Sept. 17 Thursdays at the U program at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire – Barron County.

He will present “Constitution Day: America’s Founding Blueprint” from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall in Ritzinger Hall. The presentation also will be livestreamed at ricelaketv.com.
Constitution Day is observed each year on Sept. 17 to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution on that date in 1787.
Thrasher is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Wisconsin and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 7th, 8th, 9th and District of Columbia Circuits. His practice has consisted primarily of civil trial and appellate litigation. In addition, Thrasher has served on the Wisconsin Judicial Counsel and presented at continuing legal education seminars and mock trials for the State Bar of Wisconsin and the American Board of Trial Advocates.
His interest in constitutional law started in an undergraduate class at UW-Eau Claire and continued at the UW Law School, where he has served as an instructor for weeklong trial practice classes.
A former president of the UW-Eau Claire – Barron County Foundation, Thrasher is a repeat Constitution Day presenter for the Thursdays at the U series.
The Thursdays at the U weekly series is free and open to the public thanks to support from the UW-Eau Claire – Barron County Foundation. Neither seating reservations nor parking permits are needed for in-person attendees.
While in-person attendance is encouraged, most presentations in the series are livestreamed and archived on the Thursdays at the U webpage.
The next program in the series will be Sept. 24, with Dr. Rick St. Germaine presenting “The Founding of Lac Courte Oreilles.”
