Thomas will highlight some of the unique wildlife found at the Glacial Lake Grantsburg properties in Burnett County from 12:30-1:30 p.m. April 24 in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall in Ritzinger Hall. The presentation also will be livestreamed at ricelaketv.com.

Wisconsin is home to thousands of unique wetland species, both flora and fauna. Due to the complex geological and glacial history of our area, our state has a diverse wetland landscape containing many different wetland types.

Thomas will discuss the geomorphology of northern Wisconsin, wetland species you can find in our area and how the Wisconsin DNR manages our wildlife areas to promote healthy wildlife populations.

The Thursdays at the U weekly series is free and open to the public thanks to support from the UW-Eau Claire – Barron County Foundation. Neither seating reservations nor parking permits are needed for in-person attendees.

Although in-person attendance is encouraged, most talks in the series are livestreamed. They also are archived and can be watched later on the Thursdays at the U webpage.

The next lecture in the series will be May 1, with Dr. Lauren Riters presenting “Why do Birds Sing?
