Dr. Annie Jones, a professor and organization development and tribal nations specialist with University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Division of Extension, is the featured speaker for the April 2 Thursdays at the U program at UW-Eau Claire – Barron County.

Her presentation, “Indigenous Ways of Knowing About Wisconsin’s Tribal Nations,” will run from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall in Ritzinger Hall and also will be livestreamed at ricelaketv.com.
Jones will provide an introduction to Wisconsin’s tribal nations and explore some key concepts of the Indigenous worldview. Participants will develop a personal action plan for engaging with Native American people and communities using a Native American medicine wheel.
During her 25-year career with Extension, Jones has served in a variety of roles, including associate dean, special assistant to the dean for strategic directions and county-based community development educator.
Jones’ areas of research include Indigenous methodologies, such as the use of the Native American medicine wheel, as well as cultural teachings to enhance planning and evaluation. She specializes in participatory and community-based action research.
The Thursdays at the U weekly series is free and open to the public thanks to support from the UW-Eau Claire – Barron County Foundation. Neither seating reservations nor parking permits are needed for in-person attendees.
While in-person attendance is encouraged, most presentations in the series are livestreamed and archived on the Thursdays at the U webpage.
The next program in the series will be April 9, with Dr. Thomas Wayne King and Debra Raye King presenting “Raising Icelandic Sheep.”
