“Mattie the Mad Modeler” by UW-Eau Claire staff member Rob Mattison was on display at last year’s GEEKcon event. Mattison and his creations will return to GEEKcon on Feb. 27.

The event that celebrates creativity will be from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. in Meggers Hall and will feature exhibitors with their favorite fandoms, crafts, art and hobbies.

Members of the Rice Lake community will be on hand to talk about their passions and sell their products amidst the fun and fandom.

During GEEKcon, the Thursdays at the U lecture will take place from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall. It will feature Dr. Abbey Fischer, campus director at UW-Eau Claire – Barron County, geeking out about the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The lecture also will be livestreamed at ricelaketv.com.

Food will be available from various vendors, including the Commons Cafe and the 3 Chief’s Frybread food truck.
