Your health is a priority
The University provides a range of services to support student health and wellness from disability accommodations to alcohol and drug education, to mental health services. Students who aren't already covered by a family member's policy are encouraged to sign up for health insurance.
UW-Eau Claire – Barron County Student Health Insurance
All students in the UW System are urged to have health insurance. Currently, UW System does not offer student health insurance for domestic students.
Student Health Services
Our shared service is located in room 116 of Northwood Technical College Administration Building - adjacent to the UW-Eau Claire - Barron County campus. Registered nurse Syna Carlton is available to see students but hours vary week by week so please call or check the office door for posted hours. She performs confidential health counseling, first aid and treatment for minor illness and is available to give health education tips to students, faculty and staff.

Mantra Health
We partner with digital mental health provider Mantra Health to bring UW-Eau Claire students additional mental health support via the Care Hub. This all-in-one platform gives students access to the following free virtual services: Self-Care videos, Emotional Wellness Coaching, Therapy & Psychiatry, Connect Now (11 am-11 pm drop-in support).
By enrolling in Mantra, you can connect virtually to licensed therapists to address your unique needs during daytime, evenings, or weekend hours.

Self-Care
These short, self-guided wellness courses can be accessed anytime, anywhere. Learn to reduce your stress, regulate your emotions, build healthier relationships, and get through difficult situations.
Emotional Wellness Coaching
This short-term, goal-oriented intervention is best for students wanting self-management strategies. You’ll get matched with a dedicated and experienced coach who will teach you key skills and work with you through 8-12 weeks of sessions.
Therapy & Psychiatry
Enjoy one-on-one sessions with a dedicated, highly trained, culturally-informed provider who understands your unique experience and can help you assess and manage your mental health concerns.*
ConnectNow
In-the-moment support and problem solving with a mental health professional. This service is available between 11 a.m.-11 p.m. CT via video for any students who are in distress or experiencing immediate mental health challenges.
24/7 Crisis Support
Crisis support staff is available via phone to help students through challenging situations. However, if you or someone you know is having a mental health emergency and is putting themselves or others in danger, please call 911.
How to Get Started
Visit Mantra Health’s Care Hub or download the app on Apple or Android. Use your school email address to set up an account. It’s free, easy, and includes care navigation support.
*Students will receive up to 12 therapy sessions per year.
Togetherall - Student Support Community
Togetherall is a peer-to-peer mental health support community which is available online, 24/7, and is completely anonymous so you can express yourself freely and openly. Licensed and registered mental health practitioners, called Wall Guides, monitor the community to ensure the safety and anonymity of all members.
In addition to Togetherall's online community, you will have access to a wealth of useful resources and can work through tailored self-help courses covering topics such as anxiety, sleep, depression and many more.

AODE Information
UW-Eau Claire Barron County has an Alcohol and Other Drug Education program that promotes healthy lifestyles and wellness topics. Visit the AODE website for students that offers current, relevant information on alcohol, other drugs, and general wellness topics. It also has several interactive opportunities for students to get feedback on a variety of topics.
